What does an early Spring mean for Florida Fishing?

Great fishing of course!  Just want to let you know that our migratory Cobia have already hit the shores here in Homosassa.  Cobia pass through our area beginning in Spring into early summer.  I was out this week and had a sneaking suspicion they might be coming through our area early due to our warm waters.  And….yes they are.  First trip out this year and I caught a nice one and it only gets better from here.  The Redfish are also back to their summertime patterns.  The best time to catch those Reds in on the incoming tides.  We are now permitted to keep 2 Redfish per person inside the 18 to 27 inch slot size.  We are still enjoying the plentiful Sea Trout and have been catching them throughout the Winter including the month of February.  February has traditionally been a closed month for our Trout, but the numbers are up and there are no more closed months.  We also had a fun experience this weekend catching Spanish Mackerel. So no matter what your fishing preference is, you can enjoy a fun day on the water this Spring here in Homosassa.
